Create a Group
Scholar tier subscribers can create and lead their own study groups.
Requirements
- Scholar subscription required
- Active TheoScriptura account
- A reading plan to link (required)
Create a New Group
- Go to My Groups
- Tap Created tab
- Tap Create Group or the plus icon
- Fill out the group form
Group Creation Form
Group Name
Choose a descriptive name:
- ✅ "Romans Deep Dive"
- ✅ "Men's Bible Study 2025"
- ❌ "Group 1"
Description
Explain what your group is about:
- Who is it for?
- What will you study?
- Meeting rhythm (if any)?
Up to 1,000 characters.
Cover Image URL (Optional)
Add a custom image:
- Paste a public image URL
- Personalizes your group card
- Optional — a placeholder is used if empty
Select a Plan
Choose which reading plan the group follows:
- Tap the dropdown
- Select from available plans
- All members will follow this plan
Visibility

| Private | Only visible via invite code |
| Public | Anyone can find and join |
Join Mode
| Setting | Description |

| Open | Anyone can join instantly |
| Approval Required | You approve each member |
Recommended Settings
For Church Groups
- Private + Open — Share link with your congregation
- Members join easily, but outsiders can't find it
For Public Community
- Public + Open — Maximum discoverability
- Great for growing community around a topic
For Curated Groups
- Public or Private + Approval Required
- You control who joins
After Creating
Once created:
- You're automatically the group leader
- Share the invite link with others
- Members can join based on your settings
- Everyone reads the linked plan together
Managing Your Group
As group leader, you can:
- View all members
- Remove members if needed
- Share the group link
- See group progress
Group Limits
Scholar tier allows unlimited group creation. There's no cap on how many groups you can lead.
