Add TheoScriptura to your home screen for an app-like experience on Android devices.
What is a PWA?
TheoScriptura is a Progressive Web App (PWA). This means:
- No Play Store download — Install directly from your browser
- App-like experience — Full screen, home screen icon
- Always updated — No manual updates needed
- Works offline — Downloaded content available without internet
Installation Steps (Chrome)
Step 1: Open in Chrome
- Open Chrome on your Android device
- Go to theoscriptura.com
- Sign in to your account (optional but recommended)
Step 2: Look for Install Prompt
Chrome may show an automatic install banner:
- Look for "Add TheoScriptura to Home screen" at the bottom
- Tap Add or Install
- Confirm the installation
Step 3: Manual Installation (if no banner)
If you don't see the automatic prompt:
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in Chrome's top right
- Tap Add to Home screen or Install app
- Confirm the name
- Tap Add or Install
Step 4: Launch the App
- Find the TheoScriptura icon on your home screen or app drawer
- Tap to open
- Enjoy the full-screen app experience!
After Installation
When launched from the home screen:
- Opens in full screen (no browser toolbar)
- Has its own entry in recent apps
- Supports offline reading (with downloaded translations)
- Can receive push notifications
Enable Notifications
To receive reading reminders:
- Open TheoScriptura from your home screen
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Allow notifications when prompted
- Configure your reminder preferences
Other Browsers
Samsung Internet
- Open theoscriptura.com
- Tap the menu icon
- Select Add page to → Home screen
Firefox
- Open theoscriptura.com
- Tap the three-dot menu
- Select Install
Troubleshooting
Install option not appearing
- Make sure you're on https://theoscriptura.com (not http)
- Try clearing browser cache and reloading
- Some browsers require visiting the site multiple times
App not updating
- The PWA updates automatically when connected to the internet
- Force refresh by pulling down on the page
Notifications not working
- Check Android Settings → Apps → TheoScriptura → Notifications
- Ensure notifications are enabled for the app
- Check that Do Not Disturb isn't blocking notifications
