What does the Bible say about drinking alcohol?

The Bible doesn't forbid alcohol but strongly condemns drunkenness (Ephesians 5:18). Jesus made wine, and Paul recommended wine for Timothy's stomach. However, wisdom calls for moderation, and abstinence may be best for those prone to excess or to avoid causing weaker believers to stumble.

Key Scripture

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit.

- Ephesians 5:18
