The relationship between God and Jesus is one of the most important questions in Christian theology. Scripture teaches that Jesus is not merely a prophet or good teacher but God incarnate—the eternal Word who was with God and was God (John 1:1). The deity of Christ is affirmed throughout the New Testament: Colossians 2:9 declares that in Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily. Jesus made extraordinary claims through His I am statements in John's Gospel, applying the divine name to Himself. Thomas recognized this truth when he declared 'my Lord and my God' after seeing the risen Christ. As the Alpha and Omega, Jesus shares titles exclusively reserved for God in the Old Testament. His divine nature does not diminish His humanity—He is fully God and fully man, the unique person in whom heaven and earth meet for the salvation of all who believe.
